Země Živitelka 2025

On 21–26 August 2025, the 51st edition of the international agrosalon Země Živitelka took place under the subtitle New Era with a focus on innovative technologies and digitalization in agriculture, sustainable solutions, ecological approaches and other modern trends in the agricultural sector. This year's edition was visited by over 132,000 people, which was a record attendance in the last 22 years.

The agrosalon Země Živitelka is the largest and most important event of its kind and scope for the professional and lay public, focusing on the entire agricultural sector across all its sectors. Thousands of visitors at this year's event were able to admire modern machinery, animals and also taste lots of good food. Families with children were able to try out the family-friendly play zones - interactive farms, nature trails, pedal models of farm machinery, etc.

Traditionally, the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice also exhibited at Živitelka, where the Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters USB provided a tasting of fish products with a range of fish salads, meatloaf, warm Halászle soup or Sturgeon Friendly Caviar. The Faculty of Agriculture and TechnologyUSB supplemented the offer with farm specialties, e.g. Čtyrák beer from the faculty microbrewery, hawthorn vinegar, fruit marmalades, ghee or cheese dip with chilli.

During the day on Thursday, the Minister of Agriculture Mgr. Marek Výborný "Award of the Minister of Agriculture for Young Scientists for the year 2025" to the graduate of our faculty Ing. Lenka Kajgrová, Ph.D. for her peer-reviewed article "Pond cascades as a toll for ecological aquaculture allowing natural zooplankton sucession, nutrient retention, and multiple stocking harvesting cycles".  Details of the award here.

During Friday's day, Mgr. Tomáš Pěnka with his lecture "Biculture, sludge and insects - The path to sustainable and smart aquaculture" and Ing. Václav Kučera with his lecture "Pontoon farming of valuable fish species".

This year's event was attended by Prime Minister Petr Fiala together with Minister of Agriculture Marek Výborný, Veronika Vrecianová and President of the Senate of the Czech Republic Miloš Vystrčil.

During this year's edition, the Rector of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice signed a memorandum with the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic, which opens the way for a closer link between academia and practice. More details about the memorandum here and here (only in Czech version).

We thank the organisers of the exhibition for the opportunity to participate and the FFPW USB team led by Ing. Václav Nebeský, Ph.D. and Ing. Anna Hovorková for the perfect presentation of the faculty and all visitors for visiting the stand of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice.

The next edition of the Agrosalon Země živitelka will take place from 20 to 25 August 2026.
